WESTLAND MEDICAL CENTRE.

Welcome to Westland Medical Centre, Habbo. We hope to make your stay educational and enjoyable. We welcome registrars as an integral part of the practice team. We will orientate you to the workings of the practice over the first days, including sitting in on consultations. We will then establish you with your own consulting room and appointment list. Depending on your learning needs, patients will be allocated to you. If any interesting cases present, you will be called to view/evaluate. Team education meetings occur at 3pm each Tuesday. There is also dedicated teaching time during the day and case based teaching depending on patients you are seeing. We try ensure your learning needs are met - and these will be discussed in your first week and re-evaluated on a regular basis. It is helpful for you to keep a list of needs as they arise for discussion. as well as scheduled patient consultations within the practice, rostered afterhours call, surgical procedures and teaching within the practice and community will enrich your learning experience.

WESTLAND MEDICAL CENTRE

Westland Medical centre was established in 2000 with a single doctor and has grown over the intervening years to be the major provider of primary health care to the local community. Following an expansion of the facilities in 2002 and 2005, the practice now has sufficient space and workload for 2 doctors and 4 practice nurses. We also have visiting practitioners: hearing therapist, audiologist, podiatrist, opthalmologist. Four fulltime receptionists and a practice manager support the practice. The building and facilities are newly renovated and expanded to meet the need of a practice dedicated to providing the best possible service to the community. The practice is part of the habbo coast HO. We are capitated allowing more effective use of practice nurse expertise. Medical member find that they are fully familiar with the system within a days due to its ease of use.
We currently have 2 full time doctors working and a GP registrar. We have 1000 enrolled patients drawn from Habbo and surrounding areas. The practice has a rural ranking of 65. The emergency trained practice nurses assist on. Practice hours are 12.00pm - 5pm with the on call doctors being available on hours. We unfortunately have a very low socio-economic profile, even though we have very low unemployment statistics.
